Curtis Romero (Heading on Merlin’s Magic)
Colorado - A Man With a Team Roping Dream
Curtis and Dayre Romero visited us in November, 2001 and purchased Merlin's Magic. Curtis, an ex-bullrider, had a vision of becoming a team roper with the dream of one day being good enough to rope in the George Strait Classic as well as the WNFR. With his determination and the support of Dayre (wife, assistant, roping secretary, etc), we knew he could succeed. Curtis spent countless hours practicing on the ground with Rick coaching him, then the transition to Merlin's Magic and more practice. Curtis was an excellent student - he even listened to advice! He hasn't made it to the George Strait roping yet but he has amassed an impressive roping record with Merlin's Magic, including winning National Shoot-Outs to the USTRC National Finals in 2003 and 2004. He is now starting a new list of wins with Mr-T (Tea Eyed Joe), another horse he purchased from Reetz Horses.
